NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — The Texas Rangers are investigating an officer-involved shooting in New Braunfels.

According to the New Braunfels Police Department, at 11 a.m. Friday, officers were called to the 200 block of Clemens Avenue. When they arrived, they found a 29-year old man armed with a handgun locked inside a bathroom and refused to come out.
During that time the NBPD SWAT and crisis negotiations teams were called to the scene and began more than two hours of negotiations. A shelter in place reverse 911 call was made to homes in the immediate area.
At approximately 1 p.m., negotiations broke down and officers noticed the smell of smoke coming from the bathroom. They decided to go into the bathroom. The man came out of the bathroom and pointed a handgun at officers. Officers fired and shot the man. He was transported in serious but stable condition to the San Antonio Military Medical Center. No officers were injured during the incident.
A second reverse 911 call has been made to homes in the area letting them know that they no longer need to shelter in place.
