SAN ANTONIO – Police are looking for a driver who left a man with critical injuries after running him over and fleeing the scene on the Southwest Side.

Around 12:35 a.m. on Tuesday a man was found lying in the road at South Zarzamora and West Harlan. According to a sergeant on scene, officers believed the man was dead, but then realized he was still breathing.
The man in his 30s is believed to have been run over by a vehicle. His arm was severed in the crash along with a compound fracture to his leg.
Police also said his mid-section appeared to be run over. The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment.
San Antonio police are now working to determine who was behind the wheel of the vehicle that hit him. Police say the driver took off.
There were no witnesses to the crime; so police were unable to get a vehicle description.
Investigators are now collecting evidence to help solve the case.
