SAN ANTONIO – A man sitting on Union Pacific train tracks was hit and killed by a train on the East Side overnight on Monday.

At 1:53 a.m. a conductor spotted a man sitting on the train tracks at Iowa and Cesar Chavez. The conductor blew the horn and tried to stop, but was able to halt the train before hitting the man.

The man did not move out of the way and was hit by the train. He then rolled down a hill.

EMS pronounced the man in his 40s or 50s dead at the scene.
