SAN ANOTNIO – A long standoff between a man and San Antonio police came to end on the North Side Tuesday night.
- 6-hour SWAT standoff
- Armed man had been drinking
- Barricaded himself inside the home
The incident began as a family violence call to police. An armed man inside a home had been drinking resulting in a standoff that lasted nearly six hours.
Police surrounded a house on Mandolin Wind in Stone Oak Tuesday evening around 8:26 p.m. Officers were attempting to speak to the family members who made the emergency call, when things took a turn.
The officers heard gunshots and saw the suspect go back inside the home. It was at that point that police backed off and called in a SWAT team along with police negotiators.
As the man in his 40s barricaded himself inside the home, people in the neighborhood were warned to stay inside.
After those nearly six hours the man was talked out of the home and taken into police custody.
