SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Missions baseball team got the chance to swim with dolphins at SeaWorld on Wednesday morning.

  • Experienced off-day SeaWorld trip in middle of season
  • Group of players and staff changed into wetsuits
  • Everyone received a good splash

The team is in the middle of their season but got the chance to take their minds off the field at Discovery Point for a rare off-day experience.

“Just as much time as we can be away from the field, since we’re there so much, it’s good to just clear your head and kind of just focus on other things, just let your body rest,” catcher Jacob Nottingham said.

A group of players and staff changed into wetsuits and joined several trainers and two dolphins in the swim pool. The trainers taught the players hand signs for more than a dozen tricks the dolphins knew.

Each player got the chance to kiss a dolphin, do a short swim, and everyone got splashed.

“It’s cool seeing all the different tricks they have, at least a dozen different tricks. They put on a really good show. Letting us be here to experience this is awesome,” infielder Tyler Saladino said.
