SAN ANTONIO — A sewer pipe collapse caused a sinkhole and shut down westbound Highway 90 Tuesday, according to TxDOT.

All westbound mainlanes of U.S. 90 and the frontage road lanes are now closed, as well as the ramp from Loop 410 to U.S. 90. Police are directing detour traffic.

A spokesperson for San Antonio Water Systems said the spill has been contained.

TxDOT said the closure is expected to remain through Tuesday night. Drivers should expect delays and seek alternative routes if possible.
