"We hope that it's not really over, but if it is we were happy to have them," said Terrence Carr, a Commanders parking lot videographer. "It makes me sad."
Commanders fans tailgated for what would have been game day.
"This would have settled it all to see who would be the top dog today," said Carr.
Alamo Distilling would have been found in the parking lot, but instead they are opening up their own doors.
"We would have loved to have had it at the end of the season after the championship," said Noel Burns of Alamo Distilling Co. "But unfortunately we're doing it today."
It's was a time to celebrate the much needed football team for San Antonio.
"And saying bye to friends that we may not get to see anymore," said Burns.
But these fans won't take no more for an answer.
"We just all came together in our sadness as well and try to come up with solutions," said fan Mirta Garcia. "But we also said we're still going to be here so if something else comes to San Antonio; we're ready."
They say they did their best at welcoming in a new team by filling up the stands.
"If there is another team that comes in, hopefully they'll adapt the colors because we love wearing the red and white," said Garcia. "And we're ready to cheer."
