Last month, more than 50 people were found inside a tractor-trailer on San Antonio's North Side. The immigrants were from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Brazil.

Officials said the people inside, including children, were lucky to be alive.

Carreon was previously found transporting people across the border in 2008 for a monetary gain of $1,000. His criminal history also includes multiple drug possession charges, intent to distribute drugs and firearm possession.

In July 2017, 10 immigrants died inside a trailer. The man who drove the 18-wheeler, James Bradly Junior, was sentenced to life in prison.
