LOCKHART, Texas - The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday updated the condition of the deputy injured in a shooting on Feb. 2.
Deputy Jay Johnson on Tuesday underwent major surgery to repair damage to his right wrist. The office reported the surgery was successful and that Johnson is on the road to recovery.
Tuesday’s procedure will be the last for Johnson for some time, the office noted.

On Feb. 2, Johnson was shot multiple times while responding to a 911 call about a theft on Hidden Oaks Road.
Deputies took Kimberley Ashford Moore, 54, and Eduardo Lupe Padilla Jr., 33, into custody in connection to the shooting. They are charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and deadly conduct discharge of a firearm. They were being held on separate $100,000 bonds.
