DALLAS — The city of Dallas showered 2023 World Champion Sha’Carri Richardson with honor and praise as its school district hosted a ceremony dedicated to her Friday. The celebratory event was held at the Ellis Davis Field House.

Dallas ISD officially named the John Kincade Stadium after Richardson, with a unanimous decision made in October. The announcement left her “speechless,” she recalled. But another came her way the day of the ceremony.

The school district proclaimed Nov. 10 as “Sha’Carri Richardson Day” during the track naming ceremony.

The accomplished sprinter was an eight-time state champion at Carter High School. Richardson remembers running on the track at the John Kincade Stadium. It’s all just a full circle moment for her.

Other Dallas schools Richardson attended were invited to the ceremony.

Much love was given to the track superstar as the young track athletes after Richardson looked to her as an inspiration. Dallas ISD Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde and others celebrated the success that she has achieved. The city was beaming with pride over Richardson’s amazing feats.

Richardson encouraged the next generation to stay true to their character and shared her well-known redemption story. While she spoke words of wisdom to the kids, she also made time to have a little fun with them.

It just keeps getting better for Richardson, and she can’t help but to be grateful for the city that raised her. The world awaits the challenge she overcomes next. In her own words, “It’s gonna get better and better.”
