DALLAS — The daughter of a former associate pastor at the Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas was among those killed in the shooting at a Nashville elementary school on Monday.
The mass shooting started around 10:15 a.m. at The Covenant School, a Presbyterian elementary school for students in preschool through sixth grade in the Green Hills neighborhood.

According to the church, 9-year-old Hallie Scruggs was the daughter of Chad Scruggs, former associate pastor at PCPC and current lead pastor at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Nashville.
“We love the Scruggs family and mourn with them over their precious daughter Hallie. Together, we trust in the power of Christ to draw near and give us the comfort and hope we desperately need,” PCPC Senior Pastor Mark Davis said.
PCPC at noon on Tuesday is scheduled to hold a prayer service for the Nashville church, with which, it said, it has “many deep and dear connections.”
“We weep deeply for the unimaginable sorrow that our friends at Covenant Presbyterian Church and School are suffering and will continue to suffer. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we will suffer alongside our friends and grieve together, but not as those without the hope of Jesus,” PCPC Associate Pastor Paul Goebel said.
