DENTON, Texas — The 42nd Annual Denton Arts & Jazz Festival, showcasing local talent and family-friendly events has finally arrived. The festival kicks off at 3 p.m. on Friday Oct. 7 at Denton’s Quakertown Park and Facilities.

The festival spans three days, and offers music and fun for all. Like always, admission is free. The popular event continues Saturday Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and starts up again at 11 a.m. on Sunday Oct. 9, ending at 9 p.m.

The festival lineup includes jazz artists and all music genres across six stages. Three community stages offer a chance for local groups to showcase their music.

The festival won’t only offer music, but will offer family fun as well, including attractions, exhibits and activities for all to enjoy.

The Children’s Art Area will be in the north park and will feature 15 different stations including clay and flower sculpture, tan gram art, stamp art, collage, drawing and more. The children’s area will also feature face painting, rock climbing, inflatables and a playground.

The festival also includes an art show. Artisans from Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Colorado, Iowa, Maine, Arkansas, Oregon and beyond will be showcased in this famed display. Fine art will be located inside the Denton Civic Center, while arts and crafts are located right outside the building. There will be over 100 booths showcasing art from across the country. Visitors can find clothing, metal and wood crafts, jewelry, paintings, candles, dolls and more. Notable names being featured include painter Natasha Mylius and illustrator Brad Foster.

There will be six food courts featuring cuisine from all over the world.

The festival continues to attract local, regional and national attention and has earned a reputation the precedes itself. Hundreds of thousands of visitors make their way to North Texas to experience Denton’s signature and most popular event.
