HOUSTON —  The Houston Astros at 7:10 p.m. Thursday are welcoming fans back to Minute Maid Park as they take on the Oakland A’s. However, unlike Globe Life Field, the stadium will only be open at 50% capacity during the home opener.

The stadium seats about 41,000 people.

Thursday’s game will mark the first at Minute Maid since the coronavirus pandemic began, and if you’re headed to the ballpark, there are some safety measures in place you need to know about.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early, and to be admitted you will need a digital ticket. Upon entering the stadium fans will be subject to a verbal health screening and social distancing will be maintained.

Fans will be required to wear masks at all times except when eating and drinking.

All sales will be cashless.

Bags are not permitted with the following exceptions. Medical bags and manufactured diaper bags accompanying an infant will be permitted. Also, single compartment clutches, wristlets, and hip/fanny packs that do not exceed 9”x5” will be allowed.

Physical distancing will be maintained throughout the stadium. The team encourages six feet of distance between fans at all times and hand sanitizer dispensers have been located throughout the ballpark.
