1. Philanthropist, Moody Center namesake Robert L. Moody dies at 88

Robert L. Moody, a philanthropist and the namesake of Austin's Moody Center, has died at age 88.

Moody was a businessman who was part of the influential Moody family of Galveston. Moody's grandparents, W.L. Moody Jr. and Libbie Shearn Moody, founded the Moody Foundation in 1942, the largest philanthropic foundation in Texas. 

2. Dates, locations announced for 2024 presidential debates

The Commission on Presidential Debates, the nonpartisan group that has hosted every presidential and vice presidential debate since 1988, has announced the dates and locations for the 2024 general election debates.

The first debate will be held at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024.

4. Chiefs TE Travis Kelce teases possible SpaceX flight on his podcast

Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has shot to fame this year, largely due to his relationship with Taylor Swift. Now, he may reach new heights. Think “Pigskin in Space.”

On the Nov. 15 edition of “New Heights,” the podcast he co-hosts with his brother, Philadelphia Eagles safety Jason Kelce, Travis Kelce said the podcast received an email from SpaceX representative asking him if the private company could “discuss spaceflight with Travis, or his team.”
