Those who favor warmer weather rejoice: the cold season is over! We mark the end of winter and beginning of spring officially at 4:58 p.m., the vernal equinox. And it couldn't feel more springlike out there today with seasonable highs in the low 70s under a mix of sun and clouds.
Of course, it wouldn't be Texas without some excitement, which comes today in the form of a weak cold front. It's expected to arrive this afternoon with a low 20% chance for brief showers & storms. Our in-house Futurecast model shows some isolated rain moving quickly through the Hill Country around 3 to 6 p.m.

Allergy sufferers know that we've got a variety of trees in bloom, and we're feeling it. As winds become northerly and pick up to near 10 mph behind today's front, more pollen will likely be dispersed.
The forecast calls for clearing skies tonight and temperatures dropping into widespread 40s. By daybreak, we'll look for a metro low around 47. Get ready for a comfortable end of the week with highs in the low to mid 70s.
A new Pacific disturbance will roll towards the Lone Star State this weekend, delivering a 50% rain/storm chance on Saturday with highs near 70. The rain chance diminishes for Sunday and we think temps could top out closer to 80 -- make your plans accordingly. And we might even ease into the low 80s to start next week immediately ahead of what we think will be a breezy, dry Monday afternoon cold front.

The vernal equinox marks one of two times per year when, due to the tilt of the earth, the sun shines directly over the equator with equal day & night across the globe. It marks the beginning of calendar (or astronomical) spring.
This one comes with an extra treat -- be sure to look out for tonight's Full Worm Moon.
Enjoy the weather!
