PENNELLVILLE, N.Y. -- A firefighter was taken to the hospital after a fire in Pennellville Sunday morning.

Everyone inside was able to get out safely, but a firefighter had to be taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Firefighters faced several challenges in putting out the flames.

"The time of day was definitely a challenge getting in here, getting water supply. There was a lot of ammo in the garage so that was a risk for us as well," said Pennellville Fire Chief Roberta Weldin.

The house has been declared a total loss.

Officials say at least eight departments responded to the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but officials say they believe it started in the garage.
