Not all of the virtual reality on the horizon, not even all of it at a giant video game convention, would necessarily qualify just as video game. Some are more about experiences: Like Eagle Flight. Yes, there are some competitive elements but really, this one is about flying like a bird over the City of Light.

“It’s a game where you play an eagle flying over Paris. The city is all yours it’s your playground full of animals and vegetation so it’s a real pleasure to visit Paris like that,” said Charles Huteau of Ubisoft.

The Climb is a virtual reality rock climbing game through places like the Grand Canyon that is realistic to the point where you cannot have a fear of heights and play this one.

“It’s a pretty immersive experience where the player has a 360 degree beautiful vista and beautiful mountains you can assent. We have different hand holds the player has to deal with," said Nikklas Walenski,

And finally, an experience in VR that, well frankly it’s a good thing it’s in VR because most of us wouldn’t have the courage to do it in real life, climbing Mount Everest.

“We actually worked with the visual effects house that created the visual effects for Hollywood film 'Everest.' They actually had a massive database of high resolution photographs of Mount Everest so it looks near photo-realistic," said Thor Gunnarsson of Solfar.

In both climbing games you can fall to your demise, though, in an effort not to totally freak you out, only for a few seconds.
