Spectrum News 1 has obtained the arrest warrant affidavit connected to the murder of 60-year-old Blair Carter. The Celina man was shot to death and set on fire Nov. 18 just after 11 a.m., according to authorities. Witnesses described seeing a Black male dressed in all black running from the home wearing a backpack after hearing gunshots.

When fire crews arrived on the scene, they found smoke coming from a home in the 1400 block of Anvil Court. As firefighters made their way into the home, they found Carter dead on the living room floor. Prior to the fire, court documents show that Carter was shot multiple times. The Celina Fire Marshall opened an arson investigation into the incident. Security camera footage from Carter’s cellphone showed the suspect at the back door of the home attempting to gain access around 11:05 a.m., per court records.

A black Chevrolet Suburban with “distinctive” wheels, a trailer hitch, and bumper damage was identified as being in the area of the crime via surveillance cameras in the neighborhood. During the investigation, police learned that Harris also drove an older model black Chevrolet Suburban matching the one in the images, which was later confirmed by investigators.

Authorities staked out Harris’ home where they saw him discard “multiple sacks in the trash,” which were later revealed to have containers that smelled of gasoline in them. During a search of Harris’ residence in Red Oak, authorities found 9mm ammunition, an empty Ruger handgun box, and recent receipts for a firearm. Additionally, clothing matching the description of the suspect seen in surveillance footage was found at the home. In searching Carter’s residence, multiple 9mm spent cartridge casings were recovered, and three projectiles were located under his body.

When asked about his involvement in the murder, police said Harris denied it and subsequently requested a lawyer. In a previous interview, police described Harris’ shooting spree as “random,” adding “there is no known association between victims and the complainant.” However, in Carter’s case, Harris dated his daughter.

According to police, Harris’ other victims – Robert Urrea, Adam Gautreau, and Kenneth Hamilton – were killed in Dallas. He’s also been linked to other crimes across the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex, they said.
