AUSTIN, Texas — With a father and older brother that played baseball, it wasn’t surprising that Evan Farrow picked up a baseball at an early age.
“I looked up to my big brother. Whatever he did, I thought that was super cool,” says Farrow. “I kind of got into it like that.”
Farrow says he was always a tall kid but also skinny. When he started filling out, his game improved.
“I’m throwing pretty hard. I’m putting up good numbers,” says Farrow. “That’s when I started thinking I really want to do this in college.”
Farrow has developed into one of the top senior pitchers in the state of Texas. He is the ace of the staff at Vandegrift High School and has been pretty dominant so far this season.
“I want to prove every night I am as advertised and they can’t hit my stuff,” says Farrow. “Seeing the work you put in is one of the most rewarding things.”
His work has paid off. Farrow received a lot of interest from colleges around the country. He had his eyes set on playing in the SEC, and a visit to one school in that conference made him feel at home.
“I was sold from the jump, the atmosphere walking around campus, people are wearing baseball jerseys,” says Farrow. “I wanted to go to a school where baseball is appreciated. I wanted to go somewhere that baseball was the main event and Ole Miss fit that perfectly.”
Farrow signed with Ole Miss in the fall and plans to be there next year. He also might be drafted by an MLB team this summer and have the option to start his pro career.
