DALLAS — The Dallas Cowboys are continuing to fill out their staff following the hire of Brian Schottenheimer as head coach. Dallas has brought in a couple of notable assistants, including Matt Eberflus as defensive coordinator.
On Saturday the Cowboys interviewed Texas Longhorns running backs coach Tashard Choice for the same role. Choice has coached the running back unit at Texas since December of 2021 and has been pivotal in developing running backs like Bijan Robinson, Jonathon Brooks and Jaydon Blue.
Choice has familiarity with the Cowboys, being drafted by the franchise in the fourth round of the 2008 draft, before spending three seasons as a member of the Cowboys. Choice struggled to see the field during his NFL career, but has thrived as a coach at the collegiate level.
Although no announcement has been made about whether Choice will head to Dallas or stay in Austin, Choice uploaded a picture of his daughter throwing up the horns, leading some fans to speculate that he’ll be staying with Texas.
The Cowboys have also planned an interview with Oregon assistant Ra’Shaad Samples for the position.
