DALLAS — As Texas braces for an incoming winter storm, animal shelters across the state are urgently asking for emergency foster families or supplies to help the animals get through the cold.
The SPCA of Texas is partnering with the City of Dallas to help animals in need. The SCPA is asking for blanket and towel donations for the City of Dallas’ inclement weather shelter at Fair Park. Donations can be dropped off between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Dallas Animal Care Center, at 2400 Lone Star Drive, Dallas, Texas 75212. If you can’t drop off any items, you can also donate to their wish list.
Fort Worth Animal Care & Control (FWACC) is accepting new or lightly used clean blankets to keep their animals warm. FWACC is actively seeking temporary homes for its animals to ease overcrowding and ensure each animal receives adequate care during the storm. Donations can be delivered to either of their shelter locations: 4900 Martin St., Fort Worth, or 351 Hillshire Dr., Fort Worth.
Austin Pets Alive! in Central Texas is also asking for donations and fosters. They want to put as many animals in a home instead of a kennel during the winter weather. If you can’t open your home to a pet, you can help by donating supplies like blankets or coats.
