TEXAS — A new rideshare company with armed and vetted drivers will soon be available in Houston, Dallas and Austin.

Blackwolf is a startup that offers unique rideshare services in Georgia, Florida and Arizona. It describes itself as “a ride-hail app prioritizing rider safety and protection.”

On Nov. 8, the company announced in a post on X that it would be expanding to the Texas cities after receiving audience feedback.

Founder Kerry KingBrown was inspired to start BlackWolf in 2023 after hearing the story of a friend who was a victim of sex trafficking.

“The inception of BlackWolf App was driven by a desire to ensure public safety from predators. As the app evolves into a ride-hailing service for everyone, BlackWolf App remains committed to fostering a secure environment for all passengers and supporting the worldwide initiative to eradicate exploitation,” BlackWolf’s website reads.

According to BlackWolf, all of its drivers undergo thorough background checks and must have at least four years of experience in the military, law enforcement or security sector.

BlackWolf offers three types of rides: BlackWolf Comfort, BlackWolf Premium and BlackWolf Armed. Comfort is a standard ride with practical vehicles, while Premium offers upgraded and more spacious vehicles. The Armed option offers upgraded vehicles and requires that drivers hold an active security license in their state.

BlackWolf could be available in Texas by early 2025, according to a report from the Houston Chronicle.
