AUSTIN, Texas — SXSW organizers on Monday announced the opening day keynote panel will include Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, journalist and author Katie Couric, actor and author Brooke Shields and author and sociologist Nancy Wang Yuen. It will be moderated by "The Amendment" podcast host and editor-at-large for The 19th News, Errin Haines. 

The keynote, titled “Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off the Screen,” will be held on International Women’s Day as these prominent women in their respective careers discuss representation in media and entertainment, according to a release from SXSW.

March being Women’s History Month, conversations around women’s inclusivity in various industries are ignited. SXSW’s newest keynote will tackle that inclusivity, especially for women of color and mothers. The conversation comes following recent comments from actress Taraji P. Henson, who made remarks about the treatment and pay of women of color during the press tour for the film "The Color Purple."

According to a news release from the conference, the keynote conversation will also highlight’s social media’s omnipresence for the young women in today’s industry and their mental health.
