TEXAS — In response to the Texas Panhandle's record-breaking wildfires, H-E-B and Chairman Charles Butt donated $1 million on Saturday to aid in the region's recovery efforts.
Butt donated $500,000 to the STAR Fund, which helps Texas farmers and ranchers affected by natural disasters.
Moreover, H-E-B has allocated an extra $500,000 to aid in the recovery efforts and assist nonprofits responding to the Texas Panhandle wildfires.
Throughout the duration of the fires, H-E-B has been in contact with the High Plains Food Bank to aid their outreach initiatives.
The food bank has received a significant donation from H-E-B, including truckloads of food, hygiene items, water and other essential items.
Winell Herron, H-E-B Group Vice President of Public Affairs, Diversity and Environmental Affairs said, “Our hearts go out to all those impacted by this disaster, which has grown to become the largest wildfire event in the state’s history. At H-E-B, we’re here to serve all Texans. Together with our chairman and the entire H-E-B family, we will work to ensure affected communities can recover from this tragic event.”
H-E-B has started a check stand donation campaign for customers who want to support relief efforts. Customers can donate when checking out in-store at H-E-B, Central Market, Joe V's Smart Shop, Mi Tienda stores, and when ordering through Favor Delivery and the Favor website.
