AUSTIN, Texas — It’s been 11 days since eight people were killed in a mass shooting at an outlet mall in Allen, Texas. The shooting led to renewed calls for gun safety legislation at the state and national levels.
Sen. Ted Cruz joined Capital Tonight Tuesday to discuss gun violence in Texas and said the state’s seen too many mass shootings, but pushed back on any gun reform legislation.
“They don’t do anything meaningful to prevent violent crime,” he said. “What works is targeting the bad guys. What works is targeting the criminals.”
Sen. Cruz was also asked about the end of Title 42 and how border officials say migrant encounters have dropped by half since it ended.
“That is the Biden administration’s talking points,” he said.
Cruz also discussed the debt ceiling negotiations and the 2024 presidential race. Click the video link above to watch our full interview.
