AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas State Capitol in Austin was evacuated on Sunday for about two hours due to a bomb threat.
Just after 4 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety reported, an unknown person called 911 and claimed to have placed a pipe bomb in the building.
The building was evacuated and DPS troopers searched the grounds. When nothing was located, an all-clear was given at 7:32 p.m.
The hoax remains under investigation by the DPS Criminal Investigation Division.
Lawmakers were not in session when the threat was received.
