AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas men’s basketball team just ended their season on March 20 with a short run in the NCAA Tournament. Just several days later, head coach Shaka Smart is calling it quits to take over the program at Marquette, according to multiple reports.

Shaka has been with the Longhorns for six seasons, taking the team to the big dance three times but never experiencing a tourney win. The No. 3 team was upset by No. 14 seed Abilene Christian in the first round this year, despite hoisting the Big 12 Tournament trophy earlier this month.

He was 109-86 overall at UT with a 52-56 record in the Big 12.

According to reports, Smart, a Wisconsin native, is expected to replace Steve Wojciechowski, who was fired after seven season with the Golden Eagles.
