SAN ANTONIO – If you’ve spent any time in San Antonio you know the Alamo is the city’s centerpiece and no one is a bigger fan of it or more devoted to its history than musician Phil Collins.
Starting Tuesday and through April 25 visitors to the landmark can view some of the artifacts related to the Alamo gifted to the state of Texas by the former Genesis vocalist and drummer.

According to a news release, the “Phil Collins Collection Preview” includes a brass cannon used by the Mexican Army during the Battle of the Alamo as well as the original battle orders from General Antonio López de Santa Anna ordering the attack.
"We are beyond excited to finally share some of the amazing artifacts Mr. Collins so generously donated," said Kristi Miller Nichols, director of archeology, collections, and historical research at the Alamo. "The public has been very interested in seeing the Collins Collection. It has been an honor to care for and preserve these artifacts over the years. Personally, I cannot wait to share these items with the public that have been so inspiring to us and we hope our visitors have the same feelings."
The exhibit will be available to view in the Alamo Exhibit Hall, which is located on the Alamo grounds. Viewing is free on Tuesday, which is Texas Independence Day, and subsequently can be viewed as part of the $7 audio tour. Tickets can be purchased at the Alamo and online at theAlamo.org.
The exhibit is a preview of what will be available in the Alamo Exhibition Hall & Collections Building, which is set to open in 2022.
