AUSTIN, Texas – There’s a competitive congressional race in Dallas where you can't turn on the TV without seeing their ads.
Democrat Colin Allred is trying to hang on to his District 32 seat against Republican challenger Genevieve Collins. Allred is a civil rights attorney who beat Republican incumbent Pete Sessions to flip the district from red to blue in 2018. Collins is a businesswoman who's making her first run for public office.
District 32 includes northern and eastern Dallas County. It was once considered solidly red, but now is in the swing district category.
Allred spoke with Capital Tonight anchor Karina Kling about his high-profile race, attacks over policing and health care, and his quest to keep the seat in Democrats’ hands.
Allred’s interview is part of a series of candidate conversations Capital Tonight is doing leading up to the November election.
