LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A new beer sweeping the nation will be coming soon to a tap near you. You can find the one recipe in 989 breweries in all 50 states and 19 countries. While the taste is a bonus, it's the message that is making this beer take off.

It all started when a brewer in Austin, Texas thought he could do more to support the Black Lives Matter movement. That's how he came up with the idea for the Black is Beautiful beer. He's willing to share his recipe and label design with any brewer who vows to donate 100 percent of the proceeds to an organization that supports police reform or racial equality.

Monnik Beer Company owner Brian Holten said he heard about this online and immediately knew he wanted to take part. He decided to team up with some friends to be able to get it done.

"We are good friends with the folks at Falls City Brewing Company and we decided to team up because we felt like it was a good cause to support," Holten said.

Monnik and Falls City will donate 100 percent of the proceeds to Change Today, Change Tomorrow, an organization focused on education, public health, and providing food in West Louisville.

"We wanted to be apart of it and be able to do something to bring awareness to what is happening and be able to give back to our local community," Falls City director of operations Drew Johnson said.

They are in the process of brewing it up now. It will be available on tap and in cans at Monnik and Falls City later this month. Check the breweries' social media for an official launch date. The Black is Beautiful website lists seven Kentucky breweries are participating.
