Today will bring some lingering clouds to parts of east Texas but sunny skies to everyone else. Afternoon highs will be well above normal with 70s across North Texas and 80s from South Central Texas down to Brownsville.

Monday will bring gusty southwestern winds across the state and with that dry flow off the higher elevations to our west. As a result, temperatures will soar to record-breaking values. Both Austin and San Antonio are expected to break climate records that were set back in 1951 tomorrow.

By the afternoon, though, a strong but dry cold front will push south across Texas. Temperatures will tumble quickly and continue to fall into New Year’s Day. So although you might break out a tank top and shorts on Monday, it’s back to coat weather by the time we ring in the New Year!
