SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District gave an update on the numbers of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in San Antonio on Friday.
- Two positives came from Wuhan evacuees
- Eight total from the Diamond Princess cruise ship
The number of cases has gone from two to ten in the past eight days.

Two positives came from Wuhan evacuees while a total of eight came from the Diamond Princess cruise ship evacuees.
Since Thursday, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) testing had confirmed one new case and reconfirmed one of the Japan positive cases.
These people were already isolated in a local medical facility – one after presenting symptoms consistent with the virus, and the other had tested positive for COVID-19 in Japan prior to the evacuation. Clinical specimens were collected and sent to CDC, where laboratory testing has now confirmed COVID-19 for both.

Lackland Air Force Base and other local hospitals have been involved with federally quarantining people coming from countries with high numbers of COVID-19 since early February.
