AUSTIN, Texas — Josh Hall wakes up early every day and is ready to go.

“Literally at like 5:30 in the morning I’ll be yelling and everyone is like ‘Why are you doing this?’” said Hall. “I’m like, ‘We got to go and take advantage of this day.’”

His energy is infectious and he tries to bring positivity to those around him.

“If I can help someone’s day get a little better, I feel accomplished,” Hall added.

All of those traits and his athletic ability have made him a great athlete in football, basketball and track at Anderson High School.

“I really enjoy being a part of any kind of team and working with people - being able to do something great and achieve something together.”

Hall does not just stand out on the field or on the court, he takes care of business in the classroom with a 3.4 GPA.

“My mom made sure from day one that if you don’t pass and have good grades then you don’t have sports,” says Hall.

As his time in high school is winding down, Hall already has his vision for the future. He says he wants to go to college and major in marketing and minor in psychology. Seeing this young man with all of this energy and ambition, you don’t realize some of the tragedy he’s endured early in life. At the age of 11, he witnessed his father pass away from health problems. Two years later, his grandmother, who he was very close with, also passed.

“It put me in a very difficult and dark place. Moving out of that was communicating with others, being a part of a team was very helpful to get me out of that situation.”

Hall now takes that perspective and tries to take advantage of the opportunities he has in life.
