CEDAR CREEK, Texas — It wasn’t long ago that Alfred Collins was a fairly unknown defensive lineman at Cedar Creek High School.

  • Collins is preparing for big game this weekend
  • He’s one of the top unsigned recruits in U.S.

Now he’s one of the top unsigned recruits in the country and will play in the prestigious All-American Bowl on Saturday.

“It’s a blessing to show my hard work is paying off,” says Collins.

Collins has been in San Antonio all week with some of the other top prospects in the country. It’s been a chance for him to gauge where his game is at.

“Just competing against the best in the nation and see where I’m at,” said Collins. “I need to get stronger and work on some moves.”

The Bastrop native is already a really good player but has incredible potential, which is enticing some of the top colleges in the country. He didn’t sign in December and remains uncommitted. When Collins does sign in February it will likely be with one of these four schools: Texas, Baylor, OU or Alabama.

“I want to just keep building the relationships and see what is the best fit for me,” says Collins about his recruitment.

While the 6-foot-7 Collins is quite intimidating on the field, he carries a different persona off of it.

“Honestly I’m just a chill dude,” says Collins.

Collins and the rest of the All-Americans will take the field on Saturday at noon from the Alamodome.
