AUSTIN, Texas -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spent the weekend in Austin as the keynote speaker of this year's Texas Tribune Festival.

Her appearance comes just days after formally launching an impeachment inquiry to look into President Donald Trump and his dealings with Ukraine. She spoke about her time in Congress, the unique nature of the current administration, her vision for America, and the basis for the historic investigation she is now leading.

"This is very sad time for our country it is sad we must be somber we must be prayerful and we need to see if it violated the constitution which I believe it did. This is very bad news for our country because if it is as it seems to be it is so far beyond what the founders intended and they put guardrails in to keep this from happening. This goes beyond any guardrails,” said Pelosi.
