AUSTIN, Texas -- It seems like everywhere you look in downtown Austin, there’s new construction taking place.

What that means is there’s plenty of properties that are movie-in ready as Austin’s skyline continues to evolve.

The Independent and 70 Rainey recently welcomed their first residents, and Austin Proper is set to be completed later this year.

There are only 70 units left for sale between these buildings, so demand for downtown condominiums remains strong. Many new projects are underway to increase inventory in order to meet demand.

The Independent is currently Austin’s tallest tower, but not for long. Construction has already begun on G X Guadalupe, which will be even taller and, appropriately, is located at W. 6th Street and Guadalupe.

The 66-story office and residential tower will house 349 apartment units, 25 penthouse condominiums and feature unobstructed views of the city.

Down in the Rainey Street Historic District, construction will soon begin on the area’s newest high rise at the corner of Cummings and Rainey streets, at 44 East Avenue.

The 49-story, 322-unit skyscraper will be the closest condominium to Lady Bird Lake with home prices ranging from $400,000 to $4 million.

In other Austin news, realtor.com is expanding, and it’s bringing 200 jobs to the city. The people behind the website are planning a second Austin office.

About 650 employees work at the company’s current location in the southeast. The new site will be located on E. 6th Street and house nearly 200 product, engineering, data science and analytics employees. The building is expected to be complete by the end of September.

If you’ve been downtown lately for any amount of time, you’ve definitely seen people flying by on scooters. While they can be a nuisance to drivers and walkers, they are great for zipping around the city.

Scooter company Bird wanted know where its riders most like to visit. It turns out that in Austin, it’s all about the food.

The top destinations include foodie favorites Revue, Voodoo Doughnut, Alfred Coffee and Iron Works BBQ.

Bird says research shows locals and tourists reduce their carbon emissions every time they hop on a scooter.

Other favorites include P. Terry’s Burger Stand, 1886 Cafe & Bakery, Jo’s Coffee and Amy’s Ice Cream.
