AUSTIN, Texas -- As Independence Day is quickly approaching, families should be aware of Austin's city ordinances regarding fireworks.

1.      Popping and selling fireworks within city limits is not allowed

2.      It is illegal to possess fireworks within the city limits​

3.      The City of Austin allows the use of snakes or glow worms, smoke devices, wire sparklers, trick noisemakers, snappers, and party poppers, or any item that does not explode or have aerial effects.

4.      The use of fireworks in Austin could get you a more than $500 fine.

5.      Injuries or property damage could result in criminal charges being filed.
