AUSTIN, Texas – The Austin Police Department is asking the community to not engage other drivers in the middle of a road rage incident.

  • Police have responded to 45 road rage incidents
  • 9 people have been arrested

Austin police have seen several road rage incidents this year involving guns. Authorities offered several tips for drivers that find themselves in a road rage encounter:

1. Collect as much identifying information about the other driver as possible, including make and model of vehicles, personal descriptions, and license plates. 

2. Do not put yourself at risk trying to gather information about another vehicle.

3. Don’t follow angry drivers

4. Don’t put other drivers at-risk.

5. Anyone that believes they are in danger or are being followed should call 911 and stay on the phone until authorities arrive.
