The area south of Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard is typically referred to as East Austin, while north of MLK includes Cherrywood, Mueller, and Windsor Park. The redevelopment of East Austin was led by the Mueller Development in 1999, when the no-longer-used Mueller Municipal Airport was transformed into a mixed-use urban village in the heart of Austin. 

This created a domino effect of new development throughout East Austin, establishing new businesses and housing opportunities for the growing population. It is now a dining destination with restaurants fit for foodies like Suerte and Lauderette, coupled with more traditional east side staples like Juan-In-A-Million and the world-famous Franklin Barbecue.

Real estate moves quickly with homes spending only a median of 20 days on the market year to date. The median list price for a single-family home is currently $465,000, and $470,000 for a condominium.
