BASTROP, Texas -- Just up from the banks of the Colorado River, downtown Bastrop is set up for one of its busiest weekends of the year.
- Bastrop Music Festival began Thursday
- Lasts until Sunday
- Second year of event
The second annual Bastrop Music Festival kicked off Thursday night and runs through Sunday.
“The city knows what to expect this year. No one knew what last year would be like but I got a lot of positive feedback,” said festival producer Stewart Ramser.
The festival will feature more than 30 bands at 10 different venues, most of which are within walking distance in the downtown area.

“A lot of people drive through Bastrop but don’t stop, but it’s a really cool downtown. It’s about the music but also exploring what’s unique about Bastrop,” said Ramser.
A town that has dealt with the floods currently and in the past, has also dealt with crippling wildfires. However, Bastrop continues to grow and this festival is an example of that.
“The music festival is the first thing we’ve brought to town,” said Visit Bastrop marketing manager Ashton LaFuente. “But it’s just the start, we’ll bring a lot more to town.”
The festival is expected to bring a boost to the local economy throughout the weekend.
