AUSTIN, Texas — May is known to historically be the wettest month of the year in Austin, and it's certainly living up to that reputation.
At the official Camp Mabry rain gauge, metro Austin has picked up 6.69" so far this month, a surplus of 5.42".
The official Austin Airport rain gauge, meanwhile, shows 7.14" — a surplus of 5.76" so far for the month — putting 2019 in the running for the 13th wettest May since World War II. And we still have half a month to go.
One rain gage in East Austin shows over 11" in the past two weeks, most of which has fallen since last Friday morning.
In the above video, Chief Meteorologist Burton Fitzsimmons shows us several spots that picked up at least 10 inches of rain in total.
