AUSTIN, Texas – There are countless artists who blossomed from the Live Music Capital of The World or at one point called Austin home, and it can be said that out of the younger generation of blues musicians Gary Clark, Jr. carries on the tradition from the likes of W.C. Clark and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Gary Clark Jr. was born in Austin in 1984 and began playing the guitar at the age of 12. Since his start, he has played with blues greats ranging from Eric Clapton to Jimmie Vaughan. His music incorporates jazz, soul, and rock influences and he has received awards from the City of Austin, the Houston Blues Society and the Austin Music Awards. Former Austin mayor Kirk Watson proclaimed May 3, 2001 to be Gary Clark Jr. Day.
He recently appeared as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on February 16, 2019.
