AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police arrested a man accused of pulling a knife on a father and his 12-year-old daughter in a Southeast Austin parking lot.

The incident happened at around 12:42 p.m. Friday. A man and his daughter were returning to their vehicle on 2237 E Riverside Dr. after buying groceries.

Police say as the father was trying to enter his vehicle, a man approached him and began speaking to him in English. The father, who doesn’t speak English well, did not understand what the man was saying, but sensed aggression from the tone.

After the father told the man to calm down, in English, the man pulled a long double-edged camping knife from his waistband. The father and daughter quickly ran away, fearing for their lives.

Police located the suspect about a half block away from the scene. They arrested 34-year-old Anthony Bunton II, who is now facing a Terroristic Threat charge.
