AUSTIN, Texas -- Scooters and beer are two popular topics in Austin, and one local business has found a way to safely combine the two and create a popular product.

  • Beer called No Scooters Double IPA
  • Sold 25 kegs to local bars within a few hours
  • Sold out of cans within a few weeks

With the launch of a new beer upcoming, Hi Sign Brewing owner Mark Phillippe needed a name for his latest creation.

“One day driving in to work I think I’d seen my limit of scooters on the sidewalk. I thought let’s just have fun with this as we do with all of the names of our beers,” said Phillippe.

With that, No Scooters Double IPA was born. Phillippe announced the beer and its logo with a post on Instagram.

“I think in four hours it became the most liked piece of content we’d posted in two years,” said Phillippe.

The brewery sold out of cans of No Scooters IPA within a few weeks and sold 25 kegs to local restaurants and bars within a few hours.

“When you come up with a cool label name or something people like and can engage with, that’s great.” Phillippe said.

The popularity has even led Hi Sign to create T-shirts with the No Scooters logo that are now available and they plan to brew more of the beer in the future. For more information, visit the Hi Sign Brewing website.
