AUSTIN, Texas – The Pedestrian Advisory Council discussed expanding the parking benefit district downtown at its meeting Monday night.
- Council wants to expand parking benefit district
- Collects meter fees for capital fund
- Would create funding source in each neighborhood
Currently located on West Campus, the parking benefit district has been around for several years. It sets aside meter fees collected into a capital fund for transportation related improvements within the district.
The council is asking the city to expand its current parking benefit district to the rest of Austin. The expansion would create a funding source in each neighborhood.
Additionally, the council will also recommend removing time limits for paid parking city wide. Members also want to adjust pricing to increase parking availability citywide.
