AUSTIN, Texas – A scooter rider has life-threatening injuries after colliding with a car in downtown Austin overnight on Friday.

The rider and a car crashed on the north Interstate 35 frontage road at East 6th Street around 1 a.m. Police said that the scooter rider was going the wrong-way on I-35 when the collision occurred.
Austin/Travis County EMS said the rider is a man in his 20s. He was transported to Dell Seton Hospital in critical condition.
Police did not say if a Bird, Lime, Lyft, or Razor dockless electric scooter was involved in the crash. The driver of the car was not under the influence of alcohol.
