AUSTIN, Texas – Austin City Council will tackle ways to help the homelessness during its meeting on Thursday.

  • City Council addressing homelessness
  • ARCH looking to update its contract
  • Spike in Travis County homeless population

The Austin Resource Center for the Homeless is looking to update its contract. The center could see some changes in operations, including wages and contract length.

The council will also discuss housing the city's growing population of those dealing with homelessness. Last year, Travis County saw a spike in the homeless community.

Volunteers said more than 2,100 people were homeless across the county last January. That is a five percent increase since 2017.
