AUSTIN, Texas – The lockdown has been lifted at Lanier High School and a suspect is in custody after reports of a possibly armed student on campus Wednesday afternoon.

Austin Independent School District Chief Ashley Gonzalez tweeted that a suspect was taken into custody after police investigated reports of an armed subject. The suspect has been identified as a 15-year-old student who had an air-soft pistol. Chief Gonzalez said the suspect will be facing felony charges. 

 

 

Austin police said the suspect initially fled from them and hid. A perimeter was set up and police deployed the Air 1 helicopter.

The school is located at 1201 Payton Gin Rd.
