AUSTIN, Texas – A cyclist is dead after he was hit by a Capital Metro bus downtown late Monday night.

Anthony John Diaz, 39, was hit near San Jacinto Boulevard and East 23rd Street at 10:33 p.m.
Austin/Travis County EMS said Diaz died at the scene after he was trapped underneath the bus. The medical examiner confirmed he was not a student or employee of UT Austin.
There is no word on if the bus driver will face any charges.
Authorities are encouraging all witnesses to call 512-471-4441, ext. 9 to speak with a detective.
