AUSTIN, Texas -- The team won't even start playing until 2021, but an independent fan club of Austin FC is already getting involved in the community.

• Austin FC starts playing in 2010
• Team's fan club held a food drive
• Gathered more than 1,000 pounds of food

They gathered more than 1,000 pounds of food for the Central Austin Food Bank.

The group, Austin Anthem, organized a food drive after the bank's call for food to help workers affected by the government shutdown.

Supplies were delivered to the food bank Monday and will now go to those who are in need.
